Townsend Montana in Broadwater county is a quaint cozy town 30 minutes from Helena Montana and 60 minutes from Bozeman Montana. Townsend resides at the beginning of Canyon Ferry Lake and is nestled in the Missouri River Valley near the Lewis and Clark trial. Townsend is dominated by the powering presence of the Big Belt and Elkhorn mountain ranges with rolling hills and towering peaks that house wildlife to make these areas one of the top hunting grounds in the state. Helena has a beautiful ski run which is a short driving distance from Townsend.

Canyon Ferry lake is one of the largest lakes in Montana and a popular summer and winter attraction. Estimated at 27 miles long it covers 76 shoreline miles with camp grounds, marinas, and plenty fishing and boating activities. Canyon Ferry lake hosts the largest Walleye tournament in the state during the summer and the Percy Derby ice fishing and ice wind sailing in the winter.
The Big Belt and Elkhorn mountain ranges are widely known for their excellent elk, deer, bear, cat and bird hunting opportunities, along with snowmobiling, hiking, creek fishing, camping and ATV riding.
